You Are Here: Materials Handling Range > Ball Transfer Units
Ball transfer units consist of a large diameter ball bearing, captive in a steel housing and running on a bed of smaller bearings. This configuration offers the benefits of low fitted height and maximum mobility. Usually mounted ‘ball up’, ball transfer units are ideal for use in conveying applications, particularly when arranged in beds of multiple rows. Main balls are usually steel but are also available in nylon or stainless mounted in a completely stainless unit.
Ball diameters range from 12mm to 50mm and load capacities from 22kg to 340kg in ball up orientation. Please note that when used ball down, load capacities should be de-rated by around 60%.
Fixings include threaded stem with (types A and J) or without (type B) cup, circular flange (type C) and with spring clip (type F), square and elliptical plate fixing (types D and E) and press-fit with or without spring loading (types G and H).
